Mother's Day 2018

Hi everyone!

How did your Mother's day went?

So sorry for not blogging that much. Minsan wala lang talaga akong time o minsan, I don't know what to share. Haha!

Anyway, I tried reading back to see what we did for Mother's day in the last couple of years. I found out that I only started blogging about it since 2015, missed blogging about 2016 then had a wonderful and memorable 2017. This time, I want to make sure to blog about every special event that happened and will happen to us since it feels so nice reading back. I always feel surprise reading them all up. =)

So our Mother's day was nothing special this year. We stayed at home all day. Nakakatamad kasi maglalabas ngayon, super init talaga ng weather! Ang bilis pa naman makainit ng ulo when it's really hot!

I woke up at around 5:30 in the morning and found Daryl sweeping the floor. I realized nagbaha pala sa loob ng bahay namin! There were water everywhere! Sa sala until sa kitchen! Buti na lang, it didn't reach our room pa. We found out that the water pipe broke again. We had a water pipe going inside the house under our kitchen cabinets. There's a small hole in the cabinet where the pipe goes and that's the one that's leaking. We just had one fixed earlier that week. We thought that the pipe broke due to our ref being pushed to close to the wall. Later on we realized, that it was a rat whose actually causing the trouble! Could you imagine that? I actually spent Php800 just to fix the water pipe twice already in less than 7 days?!

Daryl said that there's a rat living in our kitchen cabinet whom might got bigger and was trying to get out in the same hole. Since he can no longer fit, yung way out is to break the water pipe! Grabe sobrang hassle! I was mad thinking how can a rat be so selfish! hahaha! Anyway, we had Dudut, the cat staying inside the house so at least she could trouble the mouse while working on the pipe again. I am hoping he would stop doing so dahil wala na akong budget to get it fix for the third time. =|

After the pipe repair, I cannot believe I was sweating a lot yesterday! I don't sweat so much even if I'm working out not unless yung mga tipong Aerobics talaga or dancing. I was wondering ganun ba kainit yesterday that I sweat this much when I wasn't in front of the fan.

We ended the day with an impromptu family post dinner na kanin pa din! hahaha! My sister and I met for paper works and treated us in Jollibee.

We had some take homes for Daryl because he didn't go with us anymore.

Anyway, our day was quite common but at least we prevent ourselves from spending so much on days like this. It was not in our budget for the month which I intentionally did. I didn't foresee the water pipe fix so our eat out budget has been used. We don't go out often these days to be honest because we are preparing for something big. Lols! Kidding.

So how did you get to celebrate our day, Momsh?

Jami's First Dental Visit

We finally had the chance to visit the dentist!!

Yes.. I have been writing about Jami’s first dentist visit on my planner for couple of months already but we always have an event or an errand to do so it has been pushed back until November 28th. Jami has an HMO covering the dental check ups and some minor procedures so I took him to an accredited clinic in SM Center Las Pinas.

Jami has a total of 16 teeth as of this writing. I badly want to bring him to the dentist because I am quite worried with his front teeth. There’s a small stain in one of his front teeth and I am thinking that it might start tooth decay.

The dentist we visited is not a Pedia Dentist although she’s willing to check up on Jami.

I instructed Jami to sit on the chair pero when the dentist was adjusting the height of the chair, natakot sya so I told the dentist that I’ll sit na lang on the chair then I’ll carry Jami. Pumayag naman ang dentist and had Jami’s teeth examined. All she said after was, “Okay naman po sya”. Except his front teeth na may stain and will soon start to decay, I was told that we need to put a dental filling on it to avoid further damage on the teeth. I hesitated at first about having to put a filling on so we asked to have a cleaning na lang muna. Halfway the cleaning, ayaw na ni Jami na mag open ng mouth and wants to go out na. I tried to stop him and do all my best to convince him to stay pero ayaw nya na talaga so I told the dentist that we’ll go back na lang the next Monday although I was very hesitant that Jami would still want to sit there when we go back.

Having those thoughts in mind, I had a chat with my sister and was told about her dentist. She’s been telling me about it but then we’re not sure if she’s HMO accredited. My sister said I could ask thru their Facebook page naman so I sent them a message. To my delight, she said they do accept our cards so I immediately set an appointment.

Our appointment was 1pm but arrived 1:30pm because we had a hard time looking for parking slot. Wala palang parking yung building where the clinic is situated. You have to park pala dun sa Festival Mall which is in front lang naman so it’s fine. You just have to walk your way back to the building. We reached the 4th floor where the clinic was and found out that we’re the only client dahil thru appointment nga.

I told her that I wanted to have Jami’s teeth examined and that I worry about his front teeth. Jami still declined to sit on the chair so I sat first then he sat on my lap na lang. Since ako lang ang kasama ni Jami, I wasn’t able to take photos of the clinic. It was a small unit pero very maaliwalas. Dr. Joy checked Jami’s teeth and gave me some feedback.

photo from their facebook page

Jami’s front teeth is weak na daw because he still drink milk thru feeding bottle. It has stain on it that will start the decay if not treated immediately. One of his molar naman has a black stain na din and is starting to decay na although very small pa lang naman ang stain. I originally thought that the black dot on his molar was a chocolate left so I started to brush that teeth a little longer pero andun pa din. Yun pala, nag uumpisa na din. She suggested na ipa dental filling yung molar which will cost me a extra since she'll be using a different type of filling.

She started cleaning Jami’s teeth again, dental filling for his molar and had an ultra something to clean of the stain from his front teeth. Sorry, I forgot yung sinabi nyang procedure na ginawa sa front teeth.

Anyway, I am really glad about the service. It was way better than the first dentist we went to. Jami's teeth was pearly white after the procedure and the stain on his front teeth has been removed as well although I was told it will go back if he eats more of dark food like chocolates etc. Dra Joy talked to Jami about what she was doing that behaved Jami during the procedure. She also explained to me very well about her findings and what were the procedure that needs to be done. For me kasi, yun yung mga magagaling na doctors/dentists eh. Yun bang ipapaliwanag nila sayo mabuti yung mga bagay na nangyayari at mga dapat mong malaman para mas maintindihan mo yung mga bagay na kailangan nilang gawin sayo.

We were looking to put fluoride to Jami’s teeth however, it costs P3,200. That’s P200/tooth multiplied by 16. I said hindi ko ata keri to pay that much since I was expecting that it’ll be a little lesser. I was advised that since we cleaned Jami’s teeth, it’ll be best to put a fluoride na but I insisted that we’ll be back when we have the money. Although I had cash that moment, I have to think twice with how much I am willing to pay. Cleaning was covered by our HMO along with dental filling pero she used a different type of filling that’s child friendly so I have to pay an extra P800.

I am a little sad na I failed to accomplish the fluoride part but then at least I know kung anong lagay ng mga ngipin ni Jami. As much as possible, I want Jami to practice proper hygiene and how to take care of his teeth at an early age. Yung iba kasi, they were saying na kesyo hindi pa naman daw permanent teeth yun. Still, I want him to get confident in visiting the dentist and as much as possible, maalagaan yung baby teeth nya until it’s ready na mapalitan ng permanent teeth.

My next step is to actually look for a dentist that can provide us a not so expensive fluoride or kapag mejo nakaipon, I’ll go back to Dra. Joy since I am so impressed with her service and the sincerity of her concerns to her patients. I would want to have mine checked as well hopefully next year. =)

Jami's Sick

Hi guys, sorry for not posting any updates ha?! I was kinda busy with crochet kasi eh. hehehe! I was so addicted to it so instead of taking photos of the things I'll be blogging about, nauuwi sa pagko crochet. hehehe!

Aside from that, Jami is really getting sickly nowadays. Probably because of the weather na din natin - sobrang init sa tanghali then uulan sa gabi. Last month, he got sick. He had fever with colds. We also took him to ER in San Juan De dios Hospital to make sure that he wasn't sick because of his really big bukol sa noo. He was so makulit so nahulog ata sa bed ni Tita Frualene nya. We were told naman that the interval of his bukol and his fever was a little far away na to consider it being critical. We weren't asked to have CT scan na because his activity never changed. He was sick because of colds so viral lang naman.

He got better after couple of days pero he got sick na naman last week. He had cough naman after his colds. His cough looks worst pero the doc said that his lungs are clear so mainly bacterial daw. WE bought the prescribed antibiotic that he'll take for the next 7 days starting today. I am hoping that he'll get better anytime soon.

What makes me really sad is, sobrang laki ng pinayat ni Jami. I can see his bones na bumabakat na sa katawan nya. One thing that doesn't change is his weight. It stays the same kahit sobrang pigil sa pagdede dahil sa kakaubo nya. That's my reference na lang not to get to panic since he maintains his weight.

We had our check up yesterday and good thing he's not getting fever na. Again, we were given antibiotics now, meds for cough and anti-histamine. When his colds gets worst, we'll give him meds for colds na. Nakakaawa because he doesn't want to drink his meds but I insist, mas nakakaawa kasi kapag hindi nakainom ng gamot eh. Jami was so clingy din. Wala ng ginawa kung

Jami: "Mommy.. Mommy... Sama.. Sama... Mameeeeee.... Hug.. Hug.. Hug" (repeat 100x).

Honestly, I am tired pero I loved it. Very demanding nya and always looking for me. Malayo lang ng slight, tumayo lang, "Mommy, Si dan (sit down)". I know sooner or later, ayaw na magpa baby nyan so habang feel na feel pa nya, pagbigyan. Hehe =)

That's all for now and I promise to show you my artwork. hehe! See you guys soon!

Jami's Progress at 21st Month

It's been a while since I last post about Jami's progress. I have written this topic on my notebook where I keep all my blogging ideas however, I am so lazy to write down the things that Jami can say or do so it's been delayed na for so long. I guess I should start focusing on his progress and write things down often so I won't forget.

Anyway, I have told you many times that Jami is a lot of a talker. He can say a lot of things and at the age of 21st month, he can talk already and can at least communicate on the things that he likes.

During the time we were in Pangasinan, last weekend which I should tell you about, I asked him to remove his shoes and socks since we're inside the car na. Biniro ko sya that I will smell his feet. When it reached my nose, I smelled it at mejo pawis syempre nakulob inside his shoes so I acted that it was mabaho.

Me: Hmmmpp... Baho!

Jami: (Laughing).. Ba-ngo..

I was so shocked that he said "Bango" in full. I didn't even know that he knows the word. Daryl and I laughed at him because he's so adorable. He also say "Ba-wo" for "Baho" or Mabaho. =)

-------------------------------------------------------

At night, Jami has to drink his milk before falling asleep. There were times that he would sleep with his milk bottle inside his mouth so as soon as I see him sleeping, I'll take the bottle away. By morning, around 6am, he would wake up asking for his milk.

Jami: Man... Man.. Ku-wa.. Man..

He refers to his Milk as "Man". It actually started with "Didiya" but since he heard Nanay said "Dede na naman?!" He then called his milk "Diman" then evolved to just "Man" na lang. Shortcut kung shortcut. Hahaha! So what he's saying there was

Translation: Milk.. Milk.. Kuha.. Milk

Even if I am so sleepy pa, I'll go up because he won't stop until I give him one. I don't want to wake him up din since I want to sleep more pa. Hehehe.

--------------------------------------------------------

Jami was so makulit, he can't keep still and loves to run and run and run everywhere.

Every time that he wants to go somewhere away from me, specially if we were not at home, Our usual conversation is..

Me: Oh.. San ka na naman punta? or San ka punta?

Jami: Pow-ta.. Dun.. (points somewhere)

--------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes, Jami would come running to me blabbering words as if he's trying to say something while pointing out somewhere..

Me: Saan?

Jami: Dun.. lanlagfakjbsafa.. Dun..

Me: Saa? Ituro mo sa akin. (Then I'll follow him to where he's pointing out)

Jami: (would stop to where his pointing out).. akhfaiogbrgbsgbslbgs

Me: Ano daw??

Hahahah! It was really hard. One good thing is that he knows a lot of words na. So I always try to pick up those words that he's saying so I could respond accordingly.

---------------------------------------------------------

Last night while in the car, he kept on saying..

Jami: Da-go.. Miming.. Da-go

Me: Oo.. hhmmm.. okay.. (Just for the sake of responding while looking at his eyes)

Jami: Da-go... Miming...

I have no idea what he's saying there.. Miming was the cat and "da-go" was something I have to figure out pa. I think he's referring to "Dugo" or "Blood" because yesterday, while I was cooking our lunch and my pack lunch to work, I saw him reaching for something inside my brother's cabinet. I didn't bother looking since the cabinet is slightly open lang.

I continued what I was doing, I looked back to him and saw him holding a razor!!

I immediately went to him and saying "Jami, No."

He went running away from me and I caught him. When I grabbed the razor, I saw a blood on his chin!!!

OMG talaga I shouted " Daddy!!! Yung anak mo nag ahit na ng bigote nya tulog ka pa rin!!!"

I have been asking him to wake up na since I can't look after Jami while cooking. He immediately got up and hold Jami while I looked for betadine and cotton. It was a small cut lang naman on his chin. Alam mo yung sugat na makukuha mo when you shaved?

Hayy.. Ubod ng kulit talaga. He didn't cry as much since sobrang liit lang naman ng sugat although it's bleeding kasi kaya we put a band-aid muna.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Today, while I was busy in the kitchen preparing my pack lunch and our brunch, Jami climbed up the chair beside our fridge. I guess he's busy looking at himself in the mirror. Later on, I heard him cried and saw him holding the effin' razor again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother left it above the fridge and Jami saw it so since he always see my brother or his Daddy shaving their beards, ayan.. ginagaya nya.

He got a double wound na. His wound yesterday was the same spot he shaved today. Nakakaloka!

With that, nag init tuloy ang ulo ko and blamed his Daddy na hindi sya tinitingnan because he's busy watching T.V.

Jami is almost 2 years old and he's sobrang makulit. I guess I am about to go into "terrible two" stage na. I hope I can manage it well when I get there.

Jami,

You are growing really fast and you talk a lot. As much as possible, I want to encourage real play where you can play outdoors or indoors with your toys. During the time that I let you watch T.V, I am amazed that you know some characters in Disney Junior like "Pi-ya" (Sophia the first), "Mi-Mim" (kate and Mim-Mim), "Payy" (Hi-5), "Mos-ter" (Henry Hugglemonster), "Ma-Maws" (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). You're so smart, Anak, alam ko sakin ka nagmana! Itanong mo pa sa Daddy mo. =) I know we're almost at the "terrible two" stage and I am praying that God guides us to be the best parent for you so we could instill a God-fearing, Smart, at Mabait na bata. Daddy and I want the best for you, Anak. Just please don't grow up fast okay? I love you, my forever happy but grumpy (on photos) baby..

Love,

Mommy and Daddy

Jami has Cough and Colds

Jami started having cough and colds on a Sunday night. I was not worried yet kasi it was cough na mejo maluwag pa yung phlegm. He also started showing signs of colds. I wasn't surprised since I had cough and colds for 2 days last week and he might have been nahawa from me.

I have been wanting to bring him to his pedia since Monday but can't since I have work in the afternoon. His pedia's schedule is also in the afternoon. I asked our boss if I could go halfday next day so I can bring him and just check if the dosage is still the same since the last time he got cough and colds was in January pa (which I am glad since there's an improvement. For 6 months he didin't catch a cough and colds). Yun lang, when Daryl said that he'll bring Jami to his pedia so I don't have to go halfday, binawi ko na yung request from office. Tapos biglang last night, nilagnat na si Jami.

At the same time, Daryl was not feeling well.

I.don't.know.what.to.do.

I don't want to go absent kasi nga everyday is important to me. We are one income household so we can't afford to loose a day. I as just really lucky with my job because it's way way easier than the previous ones that I had.

That's what I had last night.

Although Jami had 37.8C, he's still masigla except sa teary eye sya because of his colds. I made him drink anti-histamine so he could sleep comfortably at night. I also placed a cool fever on his forehead pero nung nagising ako, nawawala na yung Kool Fever, tinanggal na nya.

Mejo mahirap lang din talaga painumin ng gamot si Jami. Minsan mauuto mo, pero minsan, hindi talaga so kailangan talagang pwersahan minsan (in a nice way). Hahaha! =)

Daryl just called after their pedia visit and said that it was viral daw. Niresetahan na ng medicine and I'll see it later after work.

I just hope that my baby boys will get soon na.

Result: New Hair Do

When I made kwento about my Index Salon Rebonding Experience, I forgot to include the before and after photo! Hahahaha.. Sorry guys, na carried away ako sa pag ku kwento ko about Ate kuya.

Anyway, Ito na sya...

Teka, wala nga pala akong before photo kasi it was so chaka talaga. If you can imagine my hair na lang na waist long, super black and makapal, wavy and buhaghag..

Ano naisip nyo?

Basta kung ano man yung naisip nyo, yun na yun! Hahaha..

Pero here's the after shot..

First 24 hours after the treatment

3 days after the treatment. Hair was shampooed and with hair conditioner

Yan..

Hahaha! Walang okrayan please?!

It was shoulder length na lang. Madaming nagulat na pinagupitan ko ng sobrang iksi dahil nga hanggang bewang na talaga sya. I think it's just what I usually do, ipapa make over ko ang hair ko tapos paiiksian ng todo. I want to add a side bangs pa nga jan. Siguro next month na lang pag mejo humaba na ng konti. =)

Also, on my first 2 hair treatment, I never went back to the salon for a follow up treatment like hair spa or hot oil to maintain the original treatment. I find it really expensive kasi. What I was planning to do now is to buy sa Watson's nung mga pang hair spa nila and I can just DIY it. My sister had one before and I used it myself, I was surprised na maganda ang bagsak ng hair ko. Mas mura din yun, last time I checked, they're on sale, Buy 1 take 1 for P200++ which is not bad na kasi for how many times mo din magagamit yun diba? =)

I want to see how it will turn out pero so far, enjoy ako sa buhok ko dahil madulas at maganda naman.. I just hope na mejo maganda ang pagkalayer ng dulo pero sobrang iksi na kasi nya so maybe next month ko na lang ipapaayos yung hair cut. I'll just wait for it to grow a little. =)

Did you like it?

My Toddler's Vocabulary

There were days that Daryl and I can't believe that Jami is already a year and 7 months (19months). He can do a lot of things and everyday we get very surprised.

One of the things that I would like to commend and give emphasize is Jami's speech and vocabulary. He could say a lot of words and even uses one to two words to make it a sentence. He imitates sound, words - basically anything.

Lately, I could hear him say "yilaw" refers to "Ilaw". Aside from his "Didiya" that refers to his milk, he could also clearly say..

1. Babuy (Baboy or Pig)
2. Miming (Swimming). You would often hear him say "Wooowwww... Miming!" whenever he sees water in the pail or when we pass by a river along Macapagal or in Coastal Road.
3. Pay (Tinapay or Bread).
4. Akay (slang ng Sakay or to ride).
5. Buk (Book)
6. Pisuwe (Piso or Coin) When you ask him to sing, he would sing "Pisuwe" with a tune. Hahaha! I don't know where he learned this.
7. Totot or Tot (Utot or Fart) Even dighay or burp, he would say totot.
8.  Yayon (Lion)
9. Yelow (color yellow)
10. Bibi (Baby)
11. Kiki Mamaws (refers to Mickey Mouse)

He could say people's name na madalas nyang nakakasama. From time to time, you could hear him say "bib, bib". That means babe. He could hear us (Daryl and I) call each other as "babe". He would call me "Bib" too.. So adorable! =)

Timely, Momcenter sent me my "Toddler Milestone" since I am subscribed with their news letters. They said that at 31 weeks, my child is at the age of accelerated period of expressive language development and soon expand his sentences to include three, four or even five words.  For some tips on how you can encourage your child to communicate, Click here and just select the appropriate age of your child and/or subscribed to their newsletter to automatically receive their articles. *not a sponsored post

Jami had some kababata over FMIL's community but most of them can't do or say things that Jami can. I am not trying to say that my child is advance and they are late. I know every child have their own personal time to develop on certain things and I am sure that other kids can do so much too than my child can't as of the moment. You can't blame naman siguro a first time parents being so proud of what their child have accomplished. I am.. I am so proud and happy and surprised and amazed. I thank God that he gave me my child, a wonderful, adorable and smart child. We were joking around to make Jami audition for television. Hahaha! :p

I can't contain the feeling of being proud because I thank God that He lets me witness his miracle of life and become a Mom to mold my own child. =)

Dear Jami,

It's been a long time that Mommy was not able to write for you here in the blog. I am so proud of you! Napakadaldal and bibo as your Lola said. I am so surprised that you can do and say things given your age, your Daddy found you really intelligent at sabi ko mana ka sakin. :p I will do all my best so you could be someone that is smart, down to earth and God-fearing. You're so beautiful, Anak and I thank the high heaven for making me your Mom. I love you so much baby and I pray that you would always be a good baby until you grow up. Mommy and Daddy loves you very much. =)

The Day I felt helpless and Tired

My weekends are devoted to my son and Daryl. I always make sure that we have bonding time so I can make bawi on 5 days that I am working. There were days that we will just stay at home although there were those times that we can go out if our budget allows. Both days matters to me the most as long as we are all together.

Last weekend, Saturday to be specific, I was up really early which gave me time to cook for our lunch. I was about to make the Lumpiang Shanghai pero he wants to be seated on my lap. I had to make him take a bath and have his daily playtime with water just so I could finish what I was doing. Afterwards, we had our lunch together pero he doesn't want to eat. He wanted to drink more softdrinks pa which I didn't allow. I had to take away the cup and make tiis with his crying and kawawang face just so he won't consume too much.

Anyway, after that, he started crying non-stop. He was so frustrated with I don't know where and why. I was trying to understand what he wants but he was making inarte. Naglulupasay sa sahig at walang tigil ang iyak. I was getting frustrated and tired too because of the weather na din na sobrang init. I had to bring him inside our bedroom and turned the AC on kasi naisip ko na baka naiinitan lang. He just finished taking a bath pero pawis na pawis na agad. I know he might be sleepy na kasi he woke up earlier than usual so baka isa din sa reason na nagiging irritable sya. I am making him sleep at that moment pero naglalaro pa din, I didn't notice na inaantok na din pala ako and fell asleep. Daryl brought him outside our bedroom kasi umiiyak pa din and he thought na it might help na lumabas sila ng bahay para malibang. When they came back, he was still crying non-stop when I woke up. Daryl was trying to bring him to the bathroom so he could wash his pwet. Nag poo kasi pero Jami was making lupasay on the floor and doens't want to be carried. That's when I really got pissed dahil nagising ako sa nap ko.

When I get up, I saw Daryl really helpless na parang walang magawa sa pag iinarte ng anak nya. I got mad asking him with that angry look in my face,

Me: Ano bang ginagawa mo!
Daryl: Inaalagaan yung anak mo.

I carried Jami in the bathroom myself to clean him up. I was shouting while taking off his pants and washed him. He was still crying and doesn't want to be washed. After our battle in the bathroom, I carried him in our bedroom so I can put a diaper on him. I checked his butt to see kung namumula or may rashes ba, baka kaya sya naiyak is because of pain sa kung ano man sa pwet nya. I didn't see anything except a slight redness on her pwet. I tried putting on a cream to remove the redness pero eto ngayon ang Jami, ayaw magpalagay and he was keeping himself na nakadapa so it would be very hard for me to do whatever I have to do to him. Still he was crying non-stop. I tried to turn him over pero he would go back sa pagkakadapa nya. We did that for 4 times ata then I got really pissed napalo ko sya sa pwet. I saw may finger marked red on his pwet and felt guilty. He then said, "Buh-bye!!" while waiving his hands. Na touch naman ako and that made me ask myself, "ang lakas ba ng palo ko?" He was still crying and I was a bit hesitant na with everything. My guiltiness was talking to me na "He was just a kid so I would have to be triple patient with him." That made me feel bad and questioned myself why I was so mad that day. I was so tired, sleepy, helpless etc.

I have decided not to put a diaper on him na lang then laid him to the bed. I gave him his milk then made him sleep. At that point I was successful. I checked his pwet again and saw the same red mark of my fingers. I then put his diaper on when he was sleeping na. I felt bad din that I have to shout to Daryl.

I cleaned up a little while Daryl went out para siguro magpahangin ng slight. When he got back, we were looking at each others eye habang palapit sya sakin and we both had the urge to smile and that's it.. we were fine. Thanks to him who understands my mood swings. That made me less guilty not until I saw Jami again, sleeping peacefully.

From time to time, he would cry pero he would go back to sleep again. I went out just so I could have a breather. I went to my sister's house and had a good laugh while staying there for about an hour. When I got back I have to wake my mag - ama at 6pm and Jami was still the same grumpy kid I dealt with earlier although he's it's a little better probably because nakapag pahinga sya.

Later that night went fine naman like usual. We were happy and Jami was playing with his toy cars.

There's always come a day that a Mom would feel helpless and realized that she wasn't the superwoman she thought she was. A mom needs a rest from working in the corporate world for 8 hours, 5 times a day, dealing with traffics that takes away 3 more hours of her precious time, endlessly thinking about her husband and kids. Whenever you feel like you can no longer deal with the situation, ask your husband, your relatives or anyone to look after your kids while you have a breather. It is really important. However, it is also not everyday that you would have a bad day right? Most of the time you have those days that you feel happy and blessed and all your worry and tiredness will just go away with a kiss from your kids. Well, that's a Mom's life isn't it? The toughest job of all.

My Happy Mother's Day 2015

Belated Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers out there!!

So what did you do last Sunday? I hope all Mama's had a very good day celebrating our importance in everyone's life.

Anyhow, my Mother's Day celebration was kind of weight-gaining day.

FMIL picked us up in the morning for our weekend stay in their house. We opted not to sleepover since Jami is spending his weekdays in their house naman.

We had our breakfast at Jollibee muna. Look at how Jami loves Jollibee spaghetti. =)

Oppsss!! Caught on cam!
Oh dear!! They saw my big mouth Mommy!
After our breakfast, we went straight to FMIL's sister's house so we can get another round of meal. Hehe.. Since I am too full, I ate the chicken na lang. :p

In the afternoon, FMIL, Daryl's cousin and me had a salon treat courtesy of FMIL. I had a pedicure and opted to leave my  hands free from nail polish. Alam ko naman na matatanggal din agad eh and I prefer my fingernails clean looking. =)

Before we go back to Las Pinas, Daryl wanted to go to Mall of Asia for dinner. We tried Sbarro which was our first time to dine there which I'll be blogging too in a separate post.

While seated, Daryl and I along with Jami went to a nearby cupcake stand to buy a surprise treat for FMIL, Nanay and Mine since it's Mother's Day. When we got back, we greted FMIL, "Happy Mother's Day, Mother!" and I guess she's happy with the cupcakes! I just hope she likes them. =)

As soon as we got home, we went naman to Nanay's house to hand her his Mother's day cupcake..

Silly Nanay! :p
We got home really tired but happy, not to mention that we were very full with all the lamon that we did that day! Oh, I so love Mother's day!! =)

Of course, I had my own set of cupcakes..

Oh! I love red velvet cupcakes.. A LOT!! =)

Let's get Financially Knowledgeable

Hi Mothers!!

Sorry for being absent for the last couple of days. I have blogger open waiting for your posts and leaving comments on some blog posts pero I can't seem to create my own entry kasi.

Nowadays, I am really busy reading books (on PDF), checking blog posts and researching about financial matters. You see, it has just been now that I got somehow, financially manageable. I remember my 20-ish self celebrating life to the fullest. I started working at the age of 18 after my Nanay said that she can no longer send me to college. I felt bad somehow pero I got excited din that I will then work and start to earn my own money. I found my first job 3 months after I stopped going to college.

I had my first salary, I even asked Daryl to go with me on one of the banks in Pasay to check if my pay check has been deposited. I was really shock seeing P4,000+ on my ATM. Hahaha! I don't know what to do. Nagtampo pa si Daryl na di ko man lang daw sya nilibre ng Jollibee. Hahahaha!

Fast forward to today, I have James who fully depend on me in terms of everything so I have to become financially capable. I feel weird talking about finances talaga because it wasn't me as far as I remember pero being a mother changed a lot in me. Isa na to dun. Daryl and I are living on our own now. Although we sometimes get help financially by his Mom, and somewhat Nanay too, I wanted to think differently. It was really funny talking finances to Daryl because he knows me well with money.

One night, I was talking to him about being financially free, being a millionaire and retiring a millionaire too. All he did was to nod then said "Ang tanda mo na mag isip, Be." hahahaha. I just "oh yes, I am.". I have too.. I mean "we have to" diba?

Well, kaya ako nagkakaganito nowadays kasi, I saw my officemates' book entitled "Kasusweldo pa lang, Ubos na" by Vic & Avelyn Garcia. It teaches how you could minimize your spending which was for me was really informative. It teaches you on how you could live below your means.

I also borrowed the book (from the same officemate) "Kuntento ka na ba sa Kaperahan mo?" from the same author discussing how you could track your finances and how you could manage to save. There were some example forms provided too which I find really interesting. I am excited to have it applied on my life..

Pero olats.. waley..

Hahaha! Hindi ko na handle ng maayos because Daryl and My paychecks fall a week apart so mejo alangananin ako. When the time came na alam ko na ang diskarteng gagawin ko, Daryl decided to resign. Yes, you read it right. Wala sya work now and in search pa. After some reminders, mas tumimbang sa kanya ang mga reason to leave so I respect it. Currently, mejo relax pa kasi kakaalis lang nya so hopefully, makabawi din sya before the month ends. First of all, aasikasuhin muna nya ang mga lisensyang kelangan nya so he could apply sa airport. Bless us, Lord!

I also read Bo Sanchez' "8 Secrets of the Truly Rich" which was a very nice book if you're going to talk about finances. I have read his "My maid invests in the stock market" last year naman which I forgot and was not applied sa aking everyday life so hopefully, this time, I'll be able to make it. I am really motivated so push ko na talaga 'to.

Now, here's my plan.

I want to build an emergency fund first kasi this is what mostly the books and blogs are telling me. I have to have one for emergency situations such as: 1.) unemployment 2.) Calamity 3.) Sickness. Based on what I read, ideally 6 months of your monthly salary. Mejo malaki for me so to make it more realistic, I wrote down 3 months lang muna. After that, I can continue with the other 3 months pa. I even checked kung saang bank ko ito ilalagay and I choose BDO for it. It was just funny kasi when I went there earlier, the teller discussed that it would be good kung sa savings account na lang muna. What she's trying to tell me is that, I can easily withdraw money kung gagamitin ko which was ideally what emergency fund should be. I was thinking about it still kasi I have a savings account na walang laman sa BPI already. I think I would just have to keep that don't you think?

Next, Pay off debts. It was surprising pero true. If I want to be able to invest later on and be ready for my own retirement, I should be debt free. Honestly, I don't know how I do it pero I am sure there'll be a way. I just have to figure it out. As much as possible now, I am trying to avoid debts and gladly, hindi ko na nadagdagan ang dati. I just have to find a way to pay off my credit card debt and I should be okay.

Then, Invest. The earlier, the better. Investment is a matter of time and money. I have plenty of time before retirement then I will give my money a plenty of time too to compound. I am really looking forward to that. I am trying to study more about it and surely, after kong ma fulfill yung emergency fund then I can proceed with investment. It was funny kanina sa BDo nga when I inquired of their service, the teller asked me, how old am I. I said I'm 24 turning 25. The teller replied "Ay, sobrang bata." Napasagot tuloy ako na "Ilang taon po ba dapat? (to avail of their service). Tapos sabi ng teller, "Hindi, mas bata, mas ok." Hahaha. Muntik na akong matawa kasi akala ko she's trying to tell me na hindi pa ako pwede kasi ang bata ko pa. Anyhow, I was thinking of which service to get. For the mean time, my focus was to reach my emergency fund's goal/ My 52 Weeks Money Challenge, Coop Money and Other surprise Money will go there. Sana by the end of this year or early next year, ma reach ko na ang goal! =)

Have you read their books too mother? Any tips on savings and investments?

Nanny 2015

One of the things that I am grateful at the start of 2015 is having a nanny for James. After so many months of struggle, looking for a nanny, it finally paid off. It was a great relief!

source

I had 2 of my Aunts who took care of James last year and both of them only lasted for a month. It was quite annoying kasi kelangan mag send kami ng money para makaluwas sila in Manila then after a month, they have to go home. Let me put an emphasis to “HAVE” kasi parang requirement na kapag sinabi na uuwi na sila, uuwi na talaga sila at wala ng makakapigil pa. Althoug hindi naman ako ang nagsesend ng pamasahe nila, it’s Nanay or my eldest sister, mejo hindi lang maganda ang feeling na hindi man lang sila tumatagal.

November  have passed and it was Nanay who looked after James until halfway of December where I transferred home. That was also the same time na nakahanap si Nanay ng magaalaga kay James.

Ate Lenie was quite okay naman. She takes care of James well and even plays with him at times. James can be very choosy with the people he wants to go with. He doesn’t even want to be carried by anyone else. I don’t know his criteria pero kapag lalaki ang kakarga sa kanya, he’ll go most of the time but if it would be a  girl, never! That’s why I wanted someone who can still catch up with his kakulitan and his being playful. Since ate Lenie is at 30’s, she’s able to handle James well.

When she started halfway of December, I have let her to be on a stay – out basis. She would come in at 7 or 8 in the morning until 6pm. I was in the morning schedule back in December so that set up was fine. Nanay actually didn’t like the idea kasi same lang din naman daw ang babayaran ko, bakit hindi ko na lang daw ipag – stay in. I told her that it’s fine since maaga naman akong umuuwi at the same time, I want James to get use to her one step at a time. Ayaw ko naman na ma shock ang bagets na iba na ang kasama nya every day. Although my and Nanay’s house is walking distance lang, I still want Ate Lenie to stay out at night. Maybe I did that for the benefit of myself. I am in the new phase of my life where I have to live on our own and I have to deal with another person that I have never known. I am not used to having a yaya so I am still in the mindset na nahihiya akong nagtatrabaho sya sa bahay, something like that. I grew up without a yaya in my entire life so I don’t know what it feels like if someone you just met would be your househelp.

Came January, I had the midshift (12pm-9pm) so I required Ate Lenie to stay in our house on weekdays. In the past weeks, she’s having 2 consecutive days off which Nanay again, disliked. She said that she shouldn’t have 2 days off weekly. One would be fine with her daw. My point naman kasi is, we’re usually not at home every weekends and there’s very minimal things to do. Hindi naman kasi kalakihan ang bahay na inuupahan ko and I wasn’t that makalat naman. At the same time, wala pa kaming cable so wala kaming mapaglibangan sa bahay kundi si James. I am about to fix the cable thingy pa kasi eh..

As of the moment, I find her very helpful to me naman. Having a nanny made me have some me time and even rest after work hours.

Our routine on weekays falls like this:

James and I wakes up at 7am while Ate Lenie is up earlier than us. Magsasaing na yan while she’ll have coffee. Us three (James, Me and Daryl) would cuddle a little until 8am where Daryl has to go get ready for work. I would then ask Ate Lenie to buy food sa palengke para makapag luto before I go to work. There’ll be times din na I will be the one to go to palengke kapag sinisipag ako. Wala pa kasi kaming ref so I can’t buy too many food na madaling mabubulok. I or She would look after James until she’s ready to cook for our lunch. That’s around 9am. If the food is cooked early, Daryl and I would get to have our breakfast together. By then, magpapainit na sya ng water so she can bathe James. By this time, Daryl has left and at 9:30, I’ll get ready na to go to work naman. By 10am, I’ll leave the house while James would play or they’ll go to Nanay’s house to watch cartoons.

Daryl and I would come home at around 10:30pm. I don’t often eat na at night. I don’t want to feel bloated before going to sleep while Daryl would sometimes eat and sometimes don’t. James and Ate Lenie are both asleep by then. Daryl and I would catch up on how our days went and would go to sleep in a while.

That’s our everyday routine on weekdays. For weekends it’s different as Ate Lenie would do the laundry while I take care of James. That I want to happen na moving forward. Last couple of weeks kasi, it was Nanay who’s doing the laundry because I don’t like Ate Lenie’s way of paglalaba at pagasasampay. However, since Nanay went to province, Ate Lenie did the laundry. I asked her to go home on a Saturday afternoon na lang kasi mostly, Friday night pa lang umuuwi na yan eh tapos Monday morning na ang balik.

One thing that I noticed was, hindi sya masyadong magalang over me. Hindi ko naman sinasabing bastos sya or anything bad. She was introduced kasi by Nanay as Ate Lenie so I got used to it. Dapat daw, I’ll call her on her first name then she’ll call me Ate as her respect over me – sabi ng sister ko. Parang kabaliktaran kasi yung nangyari. Hehehe. Anyway, ok lang naman. Hindi naman big deal masyado. Although I want to correct it somehow, parang ang hirap, I don’t know how to start. Mejo nasanay lang ako na tumatawag ng ate sa mas matanda sakin. Hayyy.. Pero hindi ko naman na gagawing big deal nga.. keri na yan for now. =) Sometimes, I get piss lang on how she sends me text messages.

At some point, She was asking if she can make bale( advance) daw. OK lang naman sakin and it wasn’t a problem kasi maliit lang naman ang hinihingi.

Me: Ok ate. Mamaya na lang yung xxx mo pag uwi ko.

Ate Lenie: Gwin mung xxx. Blik cu ung xxx s Monday..qng may pera kpa..

Speechless ako mga teng!! I don’t know I just feel na hindi ako ang amo eh. Hahahaha! I am just making fun of it na lang kasi hindi din naman nya siguro intention to sound na nang uutos diba?! Hehe.

It’s her 2nd month with us on Feb 15 and I am hoping she will last for a long time kasi ok naman talaga sya. =)
