Starvoice 2014 at Active Fun in BGC

Last Saturday August 23, I was invited to attend an event at Active Fun in Bonifacio High Street Taguig for Starvoice 2014. I was quite giddy to know that I will be attending my first ever blogger event. Feeling ko kasi lumi -level up na aketch! Hahahah. Charot.

Along the way, I was so annoyed at myself for making the wrong decision of which way I will take going to BGC. The last time I went there was when I was 3-4 months pregnant with James along with a mommy friend of mine. I only have one route in mind however, it was really, really traffic. I was thinking not to attend anymore because it was past 4pm na but my inner blogger self wants to go. When I got to MRT Ayala Station, I found out the the bus shuttle wasn't there because of the road construction along the loop so I decided to ride a taxi. Good thing, there were taxis there who offers a ride for 4 going to BGC so I only paid 50 pesos. Hihi =)

When I reached Active Fun, I asked the guard as to where the event is being held. Oh Dear, I don't have any details of the event. Waaa!! I am losing my hope in going. I tried texting the contact person but she's not answering back. While waiting, I saw Kristine Hermosa with her kids and a Nanny going inside Active Fun. Na starstruck ako mga te!! hahaha. She was tall and pretty. I guess she's pregnant but I can't tell kasi I am focused on her face eh. Heheh. I decided to call the contact person again and she answered. I was headed to Upperground floor where the event is being held. By the way, I went alone because James was sick the day before eh. Pinagpahinga ko muna.

I approached a very accommodating staff as I am looking for the person that will accommodate us. I was asked "blogger po?" Kinabahan ako mga teng! I was hesitant to say yes because I don't consider myself as a blogger eh. This blog is like an online diary lang talaga although I am really glad to be invited on occasions like these. I was given a seat and handed a meal. I felt a little VIP ha?! Hehehe. I don't know if it was really like that talaga for bloggers. I just didn't like the seat we were given kasi there was this huge post na nakaharang so I kept on standing and going to the center so I could see the contestants.

Can you see where the guy in a gray top? Malaking poste yan. Yan ang kaharap ko while watching. Hayy..

Going back, since I arrived almost an hour late, I heard the last little division contestant singing "You'll gonna love me". Grabe!! Diba sobrang taas ng song na yun? Abot na abot ni bagets. Nawindang akong tunay!

Let the photo do the talking. Shall we? =)

It was the two Active Fun Mascot along with the dancers ala Bruno Mars

After which, another round of singing kids has started. This was for a different age bracket of kids (Junior Division) who joined Starvoice.

Would you believe that this kid sang "Let it Go"? Ang cool ng voice nya!!
This kid naman sang the "what the fox says" Ang galing din!!

These cupcakes caught my attention because they were seated right beside me. Hehehe! Drooling!
Gladys Reyes hosting the event. I don't know the name of the guy though.
I liked the cupcake but not the icing. Parang lasang margarine eh hehe. Too much butter siguro? I don't know. I like red velvet more kasi. =)
Gladys and her co-host sang "Bakit Ngayon ka lang?" while waiting for the judges to decide on the winner.
Then, the announcement of special awards followed.

The Starvoice 2014 Winner Junior Category

Contestants of Little Division
Unfortunately, my phone memory is full so I wasn't able to take anymore photos after the announcement of winners for Little Division.

Judged by Ms Ana Liza Porto of Grand Videoke; Ms. Naths Everett of Repertory Philippines and; Mr. Jay Pangilinan of Repertory Philippines. Starvoice 2014 was indeed a great way to showcase our child's talent. I was so amazed with the contestant and surely, the judges had a hard time choosing the best among the best. I have watched some singing contest but this was so far the greatest I have attended. I swear, sobrang gagaling ng mga contestant. Nagsisi tuloy ako na hindi ko pinursue ang singing career ko when I was a kid. Hahahah.

Also, one of the judges Mr. Jay Pangilinan sang. Ay grabe! It's as if I watched a live play in theater, si Lea Salonga na lang ang kulang, Miss Saigon na ang dating. It's like those from Disney movies ang peg!! Ang cool!! That's what Repertory Philippines is about eh.

I waited until the event ended and heard the winners sang their winning piece again. The winner from Starvoice Junior Division had a future peg of Lea Salonga while the winner from Little Division is the future Beyonce Knowles. Ganon sila kagagaling!!

After the event, we said our goodbyes and took home these samples. Nag enjoy sa Goody Gulp si Daddy Daryl. Hahaha. Makasali nga sa giveaway nyan. =)

Thank you Active Fun and StarVoice for inviting us all. I surely had a blast! =)

Rainy Day Tuesday

I am on childcare now mga mudras!!

I have made up my mind. Hindi ako papasok sa work today to take care of James. Nakakaawa kasi eh. Nangingilala na so there should be one familiar face around kundi iiyak na naman sya maghapon. Kaya kahit hindi ako pinayagan mag leave ngayon, I don't care! I work for James anyway so anong purpose of going to work kung yung anak ko, may sakit at walang magbabantay diba? Hayy..

Ngayon nga mejo hirap sya matulog dahil sa sipon at ubo! Hayy... Lagi na lang nakakaurat na talaga yang mga sakit na yan!! We'll have our check up later kay Dra. Medina sana kaya lang she's on maternity leave na pala. Huhuhu! These past weeks kasi ang sickly talaga ni James baka miss na nya si Dra. Medina. Lately kasi sa ibang doctors kami diba?

Anyway..

Last night rained really hard no?! Did you guys got stranded or flooded? Take care everyone!!

Ako?

Ayun! Sakto pa lumingon sya no? Hehehe =)

Anyway, I posted this in IG too. That's us nung mejo behave pa sya this morning. Hehe.=)

Follow me on IG @its_mommy_jen =)

Oh sya! I'll be back for more kwentos. Baka magising na si James eh tumakas lang ako hehehe. =)

5 Helpful Benefits of Using a Diaper Cloth

When I found out that I was pregnant, all I do is to go to SM Southmall's lower ground level of SM Dept Store at baby company's section to check all baby stuffs that I need for James' arrival. Since I am one excited Mama, at 5th month of pregnancy, I started to buy tie side, binders and few mittens and boots. You know? Those important stuffs. I have chosen those that doesn't have a design because I don't know the gender yet.

Fast forward to 3 months after I gave birth, My eldest sister and I went to SM Mall of Asia for some reason. We roamed around the Baby Company section too and found these cute baby cloth diaper. I remembered my nephews having the ready made diaper cloth, I mean yung naka form na parang diaper na? Unfortunately, my Mom had a garage sale a year before I got pregnant so all of those baby stuff including those diaper clothe has been sold. My sister reiterated that I should have the cloth diaper too since it is way cheaper and of course reusable. I bought a blue patterned design and 3 cloth along with it.

At the present time, James uses the cloth diapers on emergency cases. I am so much grateful that James seldom gets rashes. It was just recently, I figured out that he most likely to get rashes whenever I use baby wipes on him. I blogged about it here.

I forgot the brand that I bought though I bet you can see those buttons? That means they are adjustable. It even has a garter at the back for your convenience. Now let's talk about forever savings? Hehe.

This diaper cloth was definitely helpful in times that James needed a break on his diapers especially on times that he has rashes. I remembered his baby sitter Nanay Isa telling me that he cries because of his aching rashes on his pwet daw so when I got home, I changed him to the diaper cloth and seemed to have his rashes gone fast quickly aside from the fact that the cream I put on is quite effective too (blogged about it here).

I kept his baby cloth diaper along with his everyday clothes for emergency purposes. Now I have listed down some benefits that a cloth diaper can give you.

1. Savings -  you will be spending less amount of money on diaper clothes rather than the disposable diapers right? How many disposable diapers your baby uses every day? James' approximate use are 3-4 diapers a day. Each one costs 10 pesos on retail stores while 140.00 pesos on 16 pieces per pack disposable ones. So in a month, I am approximately spends 1,000 pesos for diapers only. On the other hand, you won't feel the cost of your detergent when washing the cloth diaper since it can go along with other baby clothes.

2. Eco - Friendly - Now this is pretty obvious. There were tons and tons of waste being thrown everyday that includes your disposed nappies. By using cloth diaper, this can be one step closer in going green. =)

3. Diaper Rash - Since these diaper cloth are made of cotton, it's 100% skin friendly. Your babies skin are most likely to breath too. Based on some studies, babies will reduce the chances of getting asthma as disposable diapers have higher amount of chemicals that causes asthma likes symptoms.

4. Potty Training - It has been said to be that babies are able to learn potty training earlier than those that are using disposable ones as these absorbs the wet for hours and would be hard for your babies to figure out that they have gone potty. This was a good point right? =)

5.  Less Inconvenience - You will spare yourself from going to the store late at night when you find out that you ran out of a disposable diaper. You have saved a gas/fare in going to the nearest store.

Now that it has been clear, I am lucky to have a diaper cloth as I am enjoying this 5 helpful benefits. So what are you waiting for Mommies? Grab one now! You may find these on baby stores around. Go check 'em out!! =)

At this moment, James still uses a disposable diaper whenever he is with his baby sitter but for times that it was just the both of us, I prefer having him on his cloth diaper. =)

Baby Sitter Woes

Wala lang, magaya ko lang ang title ng isang post ni Mommy Fleur.

You know guys, I never really had a hard time looking for someone who would take care of James when I started working because Nanay was there. She did volunteer herself naman din so don't blame me although I am 99.99% sure that my son will be in good hands. I have mentioned here in my blog that Nanay went to Surigao for some offer she can't decline so I was left without a choice to look for someone who would take care of James. Instead of looking for someone else, Nanay asked her sister from Ilo-ilo to look after us while she's away. Nanay Isa was quite fine in taking care of James naman. I like her somehow but of course there were mishaps sometimes. Oh! You know what I mean muthers!! You always have a standard for taking care of our babies diba?

So here's what happened na nga.

My sister, James' Tita Grace told me that Nanay Isa has plans on leaving us. She said that she can't look after James anymore because it's tiring for her. She even said that James' baby sitter should be a little younger than her so they can catch up with his kakulitan. I know, he is very handful now. He will be everywhere, left and right with matching eating of anything he touches. Who can you blame? He's experimenting!

Going back, Dinedma ko lang ang saying ng lola nyo na she wants to go back to the province na nga because of other things she has to do. They have this monetary benefits for their children from high school and below daw and she said she has to be there for them to claim the money of P4,000 but what she said to Tita Grace - my sister, was only P2,000. Yung totoo?

Anyway, Saturday she told me that she's going home, the next day, she left. I didn't give her any money as per my Mom's advice daw because they have a different usapan ata that Nanay Isa should wait Nanay to go back here in Manila before she goes home to Ilo-ilo which anyway didn't happen na nga. So now, I am left with no choice but to get myself absent from work na naman. I am a bit hesitant because I have been absent last week for a week when James' got hospitalized nga diba? Unfortunately too, hindi nga daw ako pinayagan na mag leave from work kasi these are the time of the year din na madami kaming trabaho.

Earlier on, I exchanged message with my sister saying James have been crying. Namamaga na nga ata ang mata sa kakaiyak. I was so worried and wanted to go home pero nasasayangan talaga ako eh. I am here, I should finish the day. I know he's fine. He's not just use with tita Grace taking care of him. He's not use being taken care of someone without a familiar face. Hayyy.. I wanted to go home. =(

I am just praying na maging succesful ang online business ko para kahit i give up ko ang day job eh keri lang. Ang hirap lang kasi talaga sa pakiramdam that you are away from your son thinking that he was crying and looking for you or someone familiar. He was sick pa naman, he has cough and colds naman ngayon. Lahat na ata ng sakit kinukuha ng batang 'to. Did your babies got sickly too before they turned 1 year old?

By the way, you can follow me on my instagram @its_mommy_jen
Nakakatuwa nga kasi dati, binabasa ko lang yung blog ni Kikay Mommy Sha tapos ngayon, friends na kami sa instagram. hahaha. =)

Here are some photos I posted on my IG recently.

I was so glad I captured those 2 white little teeth successfully.

This photo was captured days ago when he was still sick. He doesn't want to smile eh kaya nag simangot na lang ako. hehe. =)

And lastly,

This was taken earlier when I was waiting for my sister to wake up so she can look after James while I am at work. I miss him. I can imagine how he looked like. Nakakaawa kasi he's sick and wants me to be there pero I am at work - working for his future. I love you James. mwuah!

Belated happy 10th month. I'll be blogging about it soon =)

On being the New SuperMom

I have already mentioned about my online business here diba? It was sort of like a "dry run" nga. I mean, trying out kung mai mamarket ko ba yung mga products or hindi. I targeted my friends on Facebook since most of them are friends of the same age, ex-officemates, current officemates and those who became my friends along the way. I know they somehow would like the items that I am selling kasi most of them are working.

Kaya naman, pagpasensyahan nyo na kung mejo busy na ako nowadays at mejo hirap ng mag blog. I am not giving up blogging ok? Here’s what really happened:

Daryl has been convincing me to try selling shoes, bags, clothes etc thru my facebook page. I was quite hesitant at first because I think I don’t have the entrepreneur skills as per Edel of Life in Manila Blog. When I was dalaga, I badly wanted to sell clothes too because that’s my forever love eh. I liked clothes more that bags and shoes. I know I can be a model din if I have the samples with me. I have also established a lookbook account pa nga to document my OOTD sa office.

Now that I became a mom, I need an extra income so I can support not just James’ everyday needs but my needs too. I haven’t been able to buy anything for myself lately because I’m busy spending them with James’ necessity. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining at all, I am just explaining to you what I am going through. Defensive?? Hehe.

Anyway, last Friday I finally gave in to the idea of online business. Although I know I am not prepared enough, I copied some photos of shoes that I liked then sent an email to my friends and officemates. I have received questions of how much they costs left and right. A lot of questions has been thrown to me. My officemate even said na I was nagmamadali daw kasi hindi pa nga ako prepared so now that people started asking, wala naman akong maisagot. Hehehe. Well, he was quite right but all I want to know is if people will be interested on my stuff. I was afraid kasi that when I start my own business, people would not give me a chance nor be dedma to what I am selling. I am scared to those who would say unsolicited comments and advices when everything fails. I was just thankful and overwhelmed that they liked it. The weekend that past, I was so busy copying pictures from my supplier. My facebook friends started asking too of how much are the costs of the shoes.

I am quite thankful that for the first week of my online business, I had 12 orders of shoes!! Not bad diba? I have posted the photos of clothes naman few days after/midweek of this week so I only have one order place for it. I am not in rush and trying to take things slow. I am still looking for suppliers of clothes so there will be variety for my customers. If you happen to know someone, let me know please? =) By the way, here are some of the shoes that I sell. You may be interested, just send me a message on my email ryljen.24@gmail.com.

Some items are made to order and some are ready made. My items are all pre-order so there will be waiting time before you receive the item. These are only some of them so if you will be interested, check my facebook page, send me an email ryljen.24@gmail.com or follow me through instagram @its_mommy_jen. I am online almost the whole day so I am most likely to answer all your queries. Also, I have bags and korean dresses on sale ha? Don't forget to check on my page. #todopromote hahahaha! =)

One of the things that I didn’t expect though was the change of my routine. This week, I have been so busy online that I wasn’t able to eat during lunch break since I am really sleepy at work or I am busy uploading stuffs on my facebook page for more items. It was quite funny because I am working 8 hours while managing an online business. It was really “maluwag” kasi sa office. 50% of the time is for tunganga that’s why I can discreetly manage my facebook page still. Promise! I am still doing my job here at work it’s just that I have spare time kaya nakakapag business pa. =)

So you’ll better understand the routine that I am telling you about, I’ll give you an idea of how my days went this week. You ready?

8:00am - 11:00am -- wake up to play, catch up and take care of James. This is like our bonding moment together, every day. This is something that I don't want to set aside eh so I really allot time for it. Although sometimes, when I wake up, he is so grumpy and sleepy na so we will be sleeping together na lang. I take advantage of this as my body would need more sleep.

11:00am - 1:15pm  -- I allot this as my travel time. My shift starts from 1:15pm so I have to prepare early since I live in Las Pinas. There are unexpected traffic everywhere eh.

1:15pm - 10:15pm -- This is my usual 9 hours at work with lunch break included while monitoring my facebook page for orders or inquiries or looking for possible items that I can include on my existing album. =)

10:15pm - 12:00am -- This goes again for my travel time going back home. There were times that I arrived before 12 midnight which is a plus since I can use it for another matter.

12:00am - 2:00am -- This is a new addition to my everyday tasks. Before, I immediately goes to sleep so I can have more time to rest my body but now that I have another things to do, I use this for my humble business. Here I’ll answer more queries, look for more items and review the pricing of the items. =)

2:00am – 8:00pm --  by 2 in the morning, I feel really sleepy na so I’ll go to bed to join my son to dreamland. Although last night, he was sick again so I kept on waking up just to check why he’s crying. Thankfully though, I have someone to look after him from 6am when he wakes up until 8am then my routine would start again. I wonder how this coming weekend will go? Hehehe.

I have just realized though na ang hirap pala maging WM+WAHM on weekdays then SAHM+WAHM on weekends. I am enjoying it though because I have another things to think about. Yung nalilibang ba yung isip ko sa ibang bagay.Feeling ko tuloy nag aapply akong maging SuperMom! Hehehe. =)

Teka, may sakit na naman si James eh. Nilalagnat naman ngayon. I don't know why pero he looked really happy. Last night when I came home, pinainom ko ng gamot. He was laughing at me and I realized, ang laki na pala nya talaga. I talked to him like I used to nung baby pa sya. He was smiling non-stop!! Sayang, I wasn't able to take a photo nor a video, madilim kasi eh patay na yung ilaw.

I posted this on instagram. It was taken days ago before he got sick. Look how mabango he looks!! Bagong ligo yan eh hehe. =)

Here's James making kulit while Mama is working online. Whew!! =)

TGIF guys!! See you soon =)
