Product Review: Lay Bare Waxing Salon

“When you see hair, It’s time for Laybare.”
My sister introduced me to them years ago. She has been having her  underarm and legs waxed. I can see her legs really get smooth and flawless everytime nagpapawax sya so I have to try it out too.
Ooops! Too much information.
Hahahaha.
I made an entry here about my plan of having my underarm and legs waxed before Holy Week. It’s more often that I have my underarm rather than my legs being waxed. The last time I had it was back in 2012 pa. When I got pregnant and I noticed that they have gone so chaka na, I asked my OB in SM Southmall if I can have it waxed, di nya ako pinayagan so ang tagal kong nagtiis ha? Last weekend was that time again that I felt my legs smooth and flawless less the peklats and all. Hehehe.
When I say flawless, yun yung parang sobrang kinis ng legs mo kapag hinawakan. Unlike kapag my hairs, parang may baku-bako. Hahah, I mean hindi makinis. Ako pa naman, ang dami kong peklats sa binti kasi back in elementary days, wala akong pakealam kung masugatan basta I can play. Ayan, nagsisi tuloy ako ngayon. I hope I can have something to remove them or just to lighten it na hindi masyadong expensive.
So ayun nga, going back sa pagwa – wax, I had my name registered so that they can accommodate me accordingly. True enough naman, they send me a text message when the room is ready and I am next in line. It was Ate Liezel who did my service. She was the same person ata na  nag wax ng underarm ko 2 months after I gave birth. I remembered our conversation:

Ate Liezel: Ma’am hindi po wax ang last nito ano?” (referring to my underarm)

Hahahaha!

From their website:

Waxing is definitely a better hair removal alternative compared to shaving or plucking. One procedure would leave you hair – free for two to six weeks depending on your hair growth.

At Lay Bare, we use cold sugar wax jelly made of sugar, kalamansi and honey only. These natural ingredients have whitening, exfoliating, and moisturizing properties. Since there is no heating involved, you never have to risk getting burned or be concerned that the wax would stick to your skin. Sugar wax is water – soluble so it is easy to clean up with just water. With continued waxing you may expect your skin to be lighter and smoother, while hair re-growth finer and sparser.

I remembered before, sa sobrang kuripot ko, I bought a hard honey wax in Watsons to have waxing on my own. Kasi it will be cheaper dahil madami yung wax pero the hassle was bongga. You have to heat the wax then let it cool until the heat is bearable. As soon as you put it, say in your underarm, you have to make sure na it won't get too cold or else, mahihirapan kang alisin sya sa kili - kili mo dahil titigas sya ng sobra. When it gets to that point, ang hirap na nyang tanggalin dahil matigas na yung wax. Sometimes, it's hard to take the wax off your underarm kasi nga dumikit na sobra then minsan yung hair napuputol na lang. =(
Believe me, I've been there.

I took a photo of the room. It is really small lang talaga. I have not seen a laybare salon na malaki anyway. I have been to their salons in Alabang Town Center, SM Center Las Pinas and Waltermart Makati.

I was instructed to take off my shirt then have the towel na lang to cover me up. Then waited for about 3 minutes before Ate Liezel came.

Anyway, Ate Liezel had my underarm waxed first. She put a talc/powder ata on the area na iwa-wax then gorabels na sya.

It wasn’t painful promise. Mejo ninerbyos nga lang ako when it comes to my legs na, kasi I forgot the level of pain eh so hindi ako prepared. Ayun, naalala ko na after. Hindi naman din sya masakit. Tolerable talaga.

Around 20 – 30 minutes ang tinagal ng procedure ko. And the result?

Please excuse the Patay na kuko over there! Hehe =) Ang lakas makapeke ng lights no? Heheheh =)

Tada!! I didn’t take picture nung before ha? Hahaha.

I also asked Ate Liezel about their package. I am interested with Brazilian kasi. I am convincing my sister and friends na i-try namin. Ang ganda kasi ng skin after na wax so I want to figure out kung ganon din sya down under.

Me: Ate yung Brazilian nyo masakit ba?
(So masakit nga talaga!!)
Me: Ah ok, eh pano kapag mejo mahaba yung hair?

Hahahahah! Natawa ako bigla. I feel ashamed naman. When I gave birth, kiber ko kung makita ng doctor or nurses yan. For sure naman, hindi nila first time makakita nun. Hehehe! Maybe next time na lang. =)

The second package is what I want sana. See? Hindi nakakawasak ng wallet.

Place: 8 out of 10
Service: 9 out of 10
Price: 10 out of 10

I highly recommend Lay Bare to you Mommies out there. You can always singit it to your budget na hindi ka masyadong magu guilty. Gora na kayo. They have affordable service promise! I spent Php500 for Half Leg (from Knee to toes) and Underarm wax.

Winner sa Sweepstake!

It was one super hot Saturday when Daryl and I decided to go to SM Southmall to hang out and just roam around. Ok, I forced Daryl is the right word. Since sobrang init nowadays at wala kaming aircon sa bahay, it will be a great way to spend your afternoon in malls diba?

Pros:
1. Libre aircon, hindi masyadong mainit
2. Kids and Mommies will enjoy the atmosphere kasi more window shopping for mommies, huge playgrounds for babies. Daddies? B.O.R.E.D. Hehehe. =) Well, not all probably.
3. Creates bonding for the family

Cons:
1. Magastos. Food, shopping kapag may nagustuhan ka, activities for kids if you have a toddler
2. Tiring specially kapag may kasama kang baby.
3. Nakakapaglaway. Heheheh =)

Anyway, I really wanted to go to Southmall kasi nga I'll have my waxing session at Laybare. I know I featured it here in my blogs years ago pero until now, it was still my go-to waxing salon. Aside from the fact that the services were cheap, may friend na akong crew dun sa SM Southmall. Hehehe. =) I'll have my waxing experience in the next entry.
We roam around a little kasi I was informed na may pila pa dahil sa dami ng mga customers nila. They were closed during Holy Week kasi kaya dumagsa ang mga gustong magpa wax. Hehehe. Good thing they opened na soon after kung hindi baka nag shave na lang ako. Hehe. =)
We saw this stalls of great painting posted. Ang dami nila at grabe sobrang ang ganda talaga! I even saw two guys making sketch. Ang astig lang. How I wish I had that talent too no?! Ang winner eh.

This is the only photo I took kasi baka bawal eh. Hindi naman pala. Hmmp!
We went to department store to check on baby's shoes. I wanted to buy one for James sana yung Pitter Pat kaso mejo out of budget eh. Baka next payout na lang. His sandals kasi was made of rubber and I saw his foot na may paltos. Kawawa naman. I don't know if that paltos came from the rubber sandals or with the new shoes I asked Daryl to buy from Sunshine Mall sa FTI. It was like a cloth shoe pero mejo masikip sa kanya.
I received a text from a Laybare crew to go back to the salon na daw kasi I'll be next in line. So I asked Daryl to roam around while waiting for me.
I went inside the store and left them sa labas kasi maliit lang ang salon ng Laybare.
I kept on texting Daryl that I am about to get done with my service kasi baka mainip sya. We brought with us James' stroller so it will not be so hard for us to carry him around. As soon as the service finished up, I received a text from Daryl that he won daw sa sweepstakes followed by so many Haha on his message. I got up easily then went out of the room. I saw him smiling at me, I smiled back. I was thinking, Shet may pera kami!!.
I paid the service while they gave me a new loyalty card I can use for future discount. When you have Php300 worth of service in one visit, you will earn a sticker and once you had several, it will give you Php100 or Php200 off on your next service. I then went out of the salon, I saw James already sleeping in his stroller. I immediately asked him kung magkano and napanalunan nya. He showed me his card.

See? This was the Banana something game where you have to get at least 3 pairs of same numbers in one ticket then there was a bonus of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x. So say, you have 3 pairs of Php200,000 then got a bonus of 4x then you will have tumataginting na Php800,000.
When I saw his ticket, pambihira, yung Php40 lang pala ang napanalunan tapos 1x pa Kakaloka! Hahahaha.
We redeemed another set of two tickets, then bought another 4 pero waley na talaga. Hindi na nanalo. Heheheh. By the way, Php20 per single ticket pala.
It was a good experience din ha. Parang we bond somehow we discovered something together. We just basically waited until the sun came down then we will go home na. We checked on the movies din na we can watch later but I asked if we can go home na kasi isang timpla lang ng dede ang dala ko for James. Kakaloka.

Here's my mag - ama.

See that ball? Hehe.
I checked CLN store, ang daming sale na shoes. Ang gaganda. =) Maybe next time.
After a while we decided to go home na.
I also had this loot for him.

I bought another set of diaper kahit meron pa kasi he might run out in the middle of payday and petsa de peligro days. Hehehe. =) I alos got him a Cerelac in Rice and Soya flavor to start his eating habit. I often buy him a Happy Cotton pero wala sa SM Southmall eh so I have decided to get the SM Bonus Cotton. =)

So this was my last weekend. How about you?

iLove Laybare

I never thought of having my unwanted hair waxed. I do have friends who were shaving their legs to avoid those annoying hair, I asked them and they were convincing me to do the same since my legs were hairy. I mean, my legs doesnt look like a leg of a girl. I wasn't lucky to get the perfect legs but I accept the fact that we all have indifference. (pampalubag-loob - in English Consolation/'Salve for the inner self' from Wikipedia) hehehe!.

My sister has her legs waxed all the time. She introduced me to it but I am not brave enough like her to try it. Im afraid that it will look odd after the session until I gave in (She has a convincing power!). Before we go to Boracay, April this year, I decided to go to her trusted waxing salon - Lay Bare Waxing Salon. I remembered my first time having my underarm and half legs at SM Center Las Pinas being waxed. I am so nervous, hahaha! and my sister kept on saying "It's fine, it doesnt hurt". Until I got my turn. I was lying on the bed when ate,  had her ball of wax and started on my legs. Waaaaa! I almost freaked out, hahah! But nah, it didn't hurt. I have not tried any other wax salon so don't ask me to compare it to others. I've heard that there were other ways/wax that were used but Lay-Bare is using a ball of wax. That's all I can say, not really know what it was called. Hehe.

Since then, when I get the opportunity, I always go to Lay Bare Waxing Salon to take care of my legs and underarm. People were so accommodating and friendly. I always go to Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa.

I didn't personally want to have the other part of my body being waxed, like the arms, back, full legs etc because I'm fine with it.

So when you see your hair, It's time to Lay-Bare. :)

Do you wax your unwanted hairs too?

Back to work tomorrow.. Argh! Noo..
Oops. I forgot! My job gets me all these. hehe! Love your job peeps! :)
